In Biology class we studied adaptive radiation. The Hawaiian honey-creeper is a great example of adaptive radiation. Adaptive radiation is when a species' habitat changes and the species' needs to re-adapt to its environment. For this project, we selected a Hawaiian honey-creeper or another species that is an example of adaptive radiation and made a digital poster about the species we selected. On the poster, it had to include information about the species and why it is an example of adaptive radiation. A 21st-century skill I practiced in this project is Civic Literacy and Engagement because I had to make the digital poster public. It being available to the public raises awareness of the Hawaiian honey-creeper going extinct. I developed civic literacy and engagement skill by putting out information about Hawaiian Honey-creepers to the public. If I could redo this project I would describe a little bit more on what adaptive radiation is. This skill will come in useful again when I need to spread awareness about something.
