I am taking German on Acellus this year. I am taking German because my mom side of the family is from Austria and their first language is German. In Acellus, the student watches videos and then answers questions. They are units, unit tests, a mid-term, and a final. As progress in the class the lessons get harder. When I first started the class, it taught me the basics which I already knew. I am currently on the 3rd unit. I have learned things like, greetings, different times of the day, and activities. There are certain topics that I have had a little trouble with like sentence structure and conjugated verbs, But overall, I haven't had too much trouble with the class. I have taken to other class on Acellus and so far, I have been doing the best in German.
A 21st-century skill I have used is self-directional skills. I use self-directional skills because I do my German lessons at home, in my free-time. I don't have any time at school to work on it. I have specific deadlines that I need to meet. An example is, I need to be 35% done with the class before November 10th. Luckily, I am almost have 35% completed.
I have a notebook that is dedicated to notes for German. In Acellus there is a help tab. If one clicks on it, a summary of the video coms pops up. I use that to take notes. It easier for me to use the summary then take notes from the videos becauseI am not very good at taking notes from a video. I use the notes for the questions, unit tests, and I will use them for the mid-term and final.
This class is very helpful for me because I can use what I learn to better communicate with my mom's side of the family. I will definitely use what I learn in the future. I can apply what I have learned and will learn to future learning because I want to continue learning German after I finish this class.
